Medjool dates are more than just a sweet superfood--they are the perfect treat for setting the mood during date night.

When we think about aphrodisiacs, foods like oysters and strawberries 🍓 typically top the list. But if you are trying to get in the mood, don’t underestimate the power of the humble (medjool) date when you are trying to eat foods that get you in a sexy frame of mind.

What Are Aphrodisiacs?

Known as items that help arouse or increase sexual desire, aphrodisiacs have focused on many couples’ diets for centuries. Packed with sexual health-supporting nutrients, components that boost “feel good” hormones, or simply comprised of a shape that resembles intimate parts of the human body, these foods are leaned on to promote a feeling of desire in a natural way🔥

While there are many ways that aphrodisiacs can work on the body, one feature is that they can be packed with nutrients that promote relaxation. Minerals like magnesium can naturally help people feel more calm and relaxed, possibly helping them get in the right frame of mind for some serious intimacy.

Other aphrodisiac foods can stimulate oxytocin, or the “bonding hormone” that may heighten sexual arousal.

Finally, certain aphrodisiacs contain certain factors that promote blood flow to various areas of the body, including the genitals --- a benefit that can enhance sexual pleasure. Check out our Libido-Boosting Smoothie to help get ya there😉

How Dates Can Help Your Sexy Date Night

Medjool Dates are a naturally sweet fruit packed with a slew of nutrients that support heart, gut, and overall health. But surprisingly, these fruits also contain factors that can naturally support sexual health.

As a natural source of magnesium, a mineral that helps support relaxation, eating dates can give people a boost of this key nutrient to help them get into the right mindset for some intimate time.

Dates also affect oxytocin receptors, which can help decrease anxiety and help people feel more relaxed. And it certainly doesn’t hurt that dates provide low glycemic energy to help keep the stamina going.

Ultimately, dates are a naturally sweet and nutritious fruit that pairs well with your other sexy foods like oysters, red wine🍷, and chocolate🍫. The caramel-like taste and exotic look of these fruit makes for a nosh that just screams aphrodisiac. Now, go light some candles, turn on some Marvin Gaye songs, and serve your sweetie some dates to enjoy in front of a roaring fire. The combo will surely lead to something fun for both of you💞

The Bottom line

We know oysters and strawberries typically come to mind when we think of aphrodisiacs, but don't sleep on dates... As a source of magnesium to promote relaxation, and their affect on oxytocin receptors to decrease anxiety, dates will certainly set the mood for your next love affair 😉
