Healthier Christmas Crackle

4 Minute Read

Written by Abby

Christmas Crackle is an irresistible buttery holiday treat made with saltine crackers, date toffee sauce, & chocolate. Vegan, Refined Sugar-Free, Gluten-Free Option.
When it comes to holiday treats, we can never get enough 😋 and we love teaming up with our friends Georgia Grinders to bring you healthier versions of classic favorites for this holiday season, like Christmas Crackle🎄🍫✨This salty-sweet classic goes by many other names like Saltine Toffee, Christmas Crunch, Christmas Crack, but whatever you call it, it's a decadent treat of saltine crackers coated in a toffee layer and topped with chocolate.

Of course we added a little twist on this classic, besides making it vegan and refined sugar-free--a creamy peanut butter date layer made with Georgia Grinders peanut butter and Joolies date syrup to create an even more indulgent candy😍The saltiness of the saltine crackers and peanut butter balances out the sweetness of the date toffee perfectly. Don't worry if you're not a candy maker, this date recipe is easy peasy and takes less than 35 minutes to whip up. Plus it also makes a great homemade gift for friends, family, teachers/mentors, or neighbors.

Ingredients you'll need:

    1. Georgia Grinders Creamy Peanut Butter
      • Our most important ingredient! We recommend using  Georgia Grinders Creamy Peanut Butter which has no added sugars, oils, preservatives, etc. Just made with Georgia grown peanuts and a dash of sea salt 🥜
    2. Joolies Medjool Date Syrup
    3. Saltine Crackers
      • This is the our base! Feel free to swap the saltines for Ritz crackers, graham crackers, or cracker
    4. Vegan Butter
      • This is an important ingredient when making the toffee layer, for a buttery and rich flavor.
    5. Coconut Sugar
      • A granular sugar is needed to create the desired toffee consistency, so we went with a coconut sugar to keep it refined sugar-free.
    6. Chocolate Chips

Optional Ingredients:

  • Sprinkles
    • To give this candy some holiday vibes, sprinkle some red, green, and/or white sprinkles on top.
  • Chopped nuts
    • These add a great nutty flavor with a little extra crunch. We recommend chopped peanuts, or pecans.
  • Crushed Candy
    • Crush up some graham crackers, Oreos, or festive M&M's. Really whatever candy your heart desires🍫
