Made with only five simple ingredients, these Take 5 stuffed dates are a healthier twist on the classic sweet and salty candy bar. Vegan, Gluten-Free, Refined Sugar-Free.

A very hot minute ago, I started a series remaking classic candy bars, cookies, etc into better-for-you versions, sweetened with medjool dates of course! For today's fifth installment, I present to you  these Take 5 Stuffed Dates made with simple, wholesome ingredients. All you need are six ingredients to make this delectable candy bar dupe that is no bake, gluten-free, vegan, and refined sugar-free. 

The name Take 5 hints at the five layers of sweet and salty goodness: crunchy pretzels, creamy peanut butter, salty peanuts, and sweet caramel--all covered in a smooth chocolatey coating. Now I am all about moderation but for those daily (or just frequent if your sweet tooth is tamer than mine😝) sweet cravings, these Take 5 stuffed dates will be your new BFF.

Ingredients you'll need:

    1. Joolies Organic Medjool Dates
      • You can't stuff a date without a date! Whether you're team pitted or whole, both work equally as delicious and still give you all the amazing benefits of dates
    2. Peanut Butter
      • We recommend using a peanut butter that has no added oils or sugars in it like 365 brand, or Spread The Love. If you have a peanut allergy, no worries, this recipe is still for you! Just swap out the PB for an almond, cashew, or sunflower butter 🌻
    3. Gluten Free Mini Pretzels
      • A crucial ingredient of a Take 5 bar is the crispy, crunchy pretzel! We went with a gluten free option but any small/mini pretzel will work.
    4. Roasted Peanuts
      • This adds a nice salty crunch just like the classic candy bar has. Feel free to swap for a different nut to your preference.
    5. Dark Chocolate Chips
      • The smooth and delicious topping that wraps our medjool date in a warm chocolate blanket. We recommend using a dark chocolate without fillers or artificial sweeteners (it takes longer to melt and isn't great for your body either) like Hu Kitchen, or Enjoy Life Foods
    6. Coconut Oil
      • Adding a little bit of this into our melted chocolate helps keep it from drying out and thins it out to make it easier for dipping! Plus coconut oil has stellar health benefits, one being composed of healthy fatty acids called MCTs which promote brain function.
    7. Flakey Sea Salt
      • Adding a sprinkle of flakey sea salt on top elevates the delicious sweet and salty combo.
